1. Who we are

Gatherly is a Cape Town event space directory operating at gatherly.co.za. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we handle it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it:

• Listing submissions: your name, phone number, email address, WhatsApp number, and photos you upload as part of a space submission.
• Published listings: contact details you choose to make public on your listing (name, phone, email, WhatsApp).
• Contact messages: if you email us directly, we retain that correspondence.

Visitor statistics: we use Umami Analytics to count page visits and clicks on listing contact and share buttons. Umami sets no cookies, doesn't collect personal information, and can't identify you personally. We don't use Google Analytics.

3. How we use your information

• To review and publish space listings on the directory.
• To contact you about your listing if we need clarification or have updates.
• To display your contact details on your published listing so event planners can reach you directly.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services

Gatherly is hosted on Netlify (USA), which processes form submissions and stores files on our behalf. Netlify's privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy. Our database is hosted on Neon (managed Postgres). Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap — no personal data is shared with OpenStreetMap. Anonymous visit statistics are processed by Umami Analytics (umami.is/privacy).

5. Data retention

Published listing data is retained for as long as the listing is live. If you ask us to remove your listing, we will delete your personal data from the directory. Submission records may be retained for a short period for moderation purposes, then deleted.

6. Your rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email us at gatherlyza@gmail.com.

7. Cookies

The public directory does not use tracking cookies. The admin area uses a session cookie to keep you logged in via Netlify Identity. No advertising or analytics cookies are set — our visitor statistics work without cookies.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
